The Enchanted Highway is a series of metal sculptures that stand along the highway. The Tin Pa is 45 feet tall, the Tin Ma is 44 feet tall and the Tin Son is 23 feet tall. The sculpture, “Theodore Roosevelt Rides Again” was erected in 1993. The “Geese in Flight” sculpture was erected in 2001.
Idea #2: Fort Buford State Historic Site – Williston North Dakota. Military history buffs will enjoy visiting the Fort Buford State Historic Site. A 360 foot square stockade enclosing log and adobe buildings meant to house a single company garrison made up Fort Buford. Each July, the Sixth Infantry Reenactment Group holds the annual Fort Buford Sixth Infantry Frontier Military Encampment, and the fur trade is interpreted just a few miles away at the Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site. North Dakota Heritage Foundation members are admitted free.
